Fondation de France - Ukraine

Evaluation [2024]

Fondation de France sought to evaluate the impact of their humanitarian aid initiatives provided to local Ukrainian NGOs as part of the "Solidarity Ukraine" program, aimed at strengthening civil society's role in addressing wartime challenges.
The project’s focus was on assessing the efficacy, reach, and outcomes of their funding, particularly in ensuring it empowered Ukrainian organisations to address the needs of communities impacted by the war. DataDriven conducted a comprehensive Monitoring and Evaluation exercise, consisting of over 15 in-depth interviews with Ukrainian NGOs that had received funding, alongside conversations with their stakeholders. The study investigated how resources were allocated, the effectiveness of localisation in humanitarian relief efforts, and the specific contributions made by funded NGOs to mitigate the effects of the conflict.
Our analysis provided Fondation de France with a nuanced understanding of their initiatives, highlighting best practices, challenges, and areas for improvement in their humanitarian response. The project generated strategic recommendations aimed at enhancing the foundation's future partnerships with Ukrainian NGOs and improving the localisation of international aid to ensure greater impact and resilience for communities affected by the war.

UNICEF’s UPSHIFT Program – In 6 regions of Ukraine

Third-Party Evaluation [2024]

UNICEF’s UPSHIFT Program, focused on empowering youth in Ukraine, aims to equip young people with essential skills to address societal challenges and foster innovative solutions. DataDriven was engaged to conduct a comprehensive third-party evaluation of the program, focusing on Monitoring & Evaluation (M&E) to assess its implementation and impact.
The evaluation involved field research across six Ukrainian regions, including qualitative interviews with key UPSHIFT representatives, program beneficiaries, and stakeholders. Focus Group Discussions (FGDs) were organised with local communities to gain deeper insights into program outcomes, while quantitative surveys assessed skill development progress among participants. This M&E initiative identified critical challenges, extracted lessons learned, and highlighted best practices.
The findings provided UNICEF with actionable insights to enhance program design, improve resource allocation, and strengthen strategic decision-making. This evaluation not only optimized the effectiveness of the UPSHIFT Program but also contributed to its overarching goal of empowering youth to build resilient and innovative communities across Ukraine.

National Network of Local Philanthropy Development & Mott Foundation - Ukraine

Evaluation [2025]

In late 2024, DataDriven partnered with the National Network of Local Philanthropy Development to conduct an in-depth evaluation of philanthropy in Ukraine, funded by the Mott Foundation.
The primary goal was to assess whether the Network’s understanding of philanthropy aligned with broader public perceptions and trends, while providing actionable insights for strategic refinement. This project leveraged robust survey methodologies and qualitative evaluations to deliver a comprehensive analysis.
The research included extensive desk analysis of existing data on philanthropy and the organisation of three Focus Group Discussions (FGDs) across North-West Ukraine, South & East Ukraine, and Central Ukraine to explore regional variations in attitudes and behaviours. A panel survey of over 1,300 participants provided a quantitative foundation, allowing for a cross-comparison of the Network’s perspectives with public sentiment.
The findings empowered the National Network of Local Philanthropy Development to refine their strategies and approach, ensuring alignment with grassroots realities.

Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine - Ukraine

Media Monitoring & Strategy Evaluation [2025]

DataDriven collaborated with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine on a project to monitor the success of communication campaigns aimed at the countries of the Global South. The main goal was to evaluate the effectiveness of Ukraine's strategic communications in these regions and provide recommendations for improvement.
The project involved the analysis of more than 100 media resources to study the main narratives, tone, public opinion and key trends in the coverage of Ukraine. Based on the data collected, the strengths of the communication campaigns were identified, as well as gaps that needed to be addressed. The project also included an assessment of the effectiveness of the MFA's current communication efforts, taking into account the specifics of regional audiences. This allowed to adapt Ukraine's messages to the local context, increasing their relevance and impact.
The results of the monitoring provided a strategic framework for improving the MFA's communication campaigns, contributing to more effective coverage of Ukraine's position in the international arena.
