As a result of the Russian aggression, Ukraine faces an urgent need to process and repurpose vast volumes of construction and demolition waste. This study examines associated environmental, regulatory, and operational challenges. Its primary objective is to capture the perspectives, barriers, and long-term strategies envisioned by different stakeholders across the construction and recycling sectors. The development of a robust construction waste recycling industry is essential not only for addressing the immediate impacts of Russian aggression but also for advancing the sector’s alignment with circular economy principles and supporting Ukraine’s broader green transition.

This paper explores agrovoltaics (Agri-PV)—the integration of solar power with agriculture—as a strategic opportunity for Ukraine’s energy transition and rural development. With strong solar potential and wartime energy disruptions, Ukraine is well-positioned to adopt Agri-PV, following trends driven by EU climate policy. It assesses viable Agri-PV technologies (e.g., fixed-tilt, dual-axis, translucent panels) and financial feasibility across farm scales. Three implementation models are presented: in-house projects, partnerships with developers, and farmer cooperatives. The paper also outlines legal barriers, funding sources, and policy recommendations.

DataDriven contributed to the National Study on “Jobs That Change the World”, led by the Association of Sustainable Development Experts (ASDE), to explore how Ukraine’s labour market is being reshaped by the global green transition. Conducted between February and April 2025, the study assessed how employer needs are evolving, which skills are required for emerging green professions, and what structural gaps hinder the development of sustainability as a field. Through cross-sector engagement, the research outlines key priorities for future workforce development, helping align education systems, policy, and business practice with long-term sustainability goals.
